50plus Expo – Overwhelming response to SG50 Courses by SACE

This Expo, hosted by the Council for Third Age (C3A), is the largest annual event for seniors in Singapore offering a wealth of activities and products for seniors to live well. The Guest-of-Honour was Dr Amy Khor, Minister-of-Stae for Health.
SACE participated as a supporting partner organisation and promoted the following SG50 lifelong learning courses for seniors:
Course Title | Format | Description |
Art Appreciation Journey | Talks & visits | Takes participants on a journey which will expose them to the various artistic works and achievements including visits, talks and discussions. |
Starting a Small Business (Café) | Seminar | Specially intended for retirees, this course will provide participants with the know-how and professional skills to start a small business and be their own boss. |
Video Stories | Workshop | Participant will learn to extract photos and video footages or take new ones, script, edit and produce a short video to tell a story of a life episode, an event, etc. |
Adventures with People | Workshop | A totally experiential course, participants will engage in fun and interesting exercises and projects, in pairs as well as in groups, and through these learn new ways of relating with others. |
Rewriting Life Scripts | Workshop | Participants will script their past life and, in consultation with course facilitator and group members, redesign and implement their new scripts. |
Applied Psychology for Third Agers | Seminar/Workshop | Covers the following 5 parts: 1. Brain and behavior 2. The individual 3. Interpersonal relationships 4.Group dynamics 5.Self & society. |
Qi Gong Meditation Techniques | Demo & Practices | Participants will learn Qi Gong Meditation techniques, well developed over the centuries, to induce a physiological response that enhances personal relaxation, peace and well-being. |
Mindfulness for Well-Being | Workshop | Participants will learn how mindfulness, stemming from traditional Eastern practices and more recent Western studies could powerfully enhance personal self-awareness and performance. |
The response was simply overwhelming and resulted in long waiting lists for all the courses.
