Traditional Chinese Stretching Course

05/04/2014

Many people do not get enough physical exercise due to a sedentary lifestyle and labour-saving devices. With job and lifestyle stress, lack of adequate exercise is even more harmful. However, as one ages, exercise can and should be milder and less strenuous. Hence stretching exercises are most appropriate as these help to loosen the joints and promote free flow of qi and blood, strengthen the tendons and ligaments, and also indirectly strengthen the bones. Furthermore, stretching exercises help to promote mental and physical relaxation. In this course participants will benefit from effective stretching exercise sets developed over centuries of Chinese culture. The first run of this programme under U3A Singapore commenced on 5 Apr 2014 and was conducted by Lim Hoy Pick, a Taijiquan practitioner over many decades and author of a book on the subject. The course will run continuously every Saturday at 10.30am. New participants may join at any one of the sessions.
